Embed map into powerpoint and share with multiple people

Postby davidn » 2011-03-10 04:41:29

Can maps created using iMapBuilder be embed into Powerpoint slideshows? And also allow viewers viewing the powerpoint slideshow without iMapBuilder installed first?

Or do the people who needs to display the powerpoint slideshow file must have iMapBuilder installed first?

Base on my understanding, only the person who needs to make the edits/customizations on maps need to have the software installed, correct?

Yes. You are right. Only the person who needs to make editing or customizations on maps need to have the mapping software install. If you want to share your Maps, you can

1. upload the published map to your website
or
2. zip the necessary files and email the zip file to people you want to share the map with. So they can unzip the published file and open the html file (interactive map image) in the browser.
or
3. Use iMapBuilder Online, at http://www.imapbuilder.net (but this won't work if you need the map to be displayed offline)

To embed iMapBuilder into the Powerpoint slideshows, you can capture the map and save it as an IMAGE for you to embed into it once the map is created. As PowerPoint does not support flash animations directly. In the Windows version you can EXPORT map into a JPG file directly. In the online version (for Mac, browser based), you can use the screen capture method to capture the map image and then save as a JPG/BMP.

You can read more about image exportation here:

Our support team has evaluated a new way to add the interactive map directly in PowerPoint slides. This applies to the Flash version of iMapBuilder Online, and if you can choose to use our map template supporting lat/long.

We have written a user guide for this. Please take note for option (b) and follow the steps.
